Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 07 May 1897.

On Monday, May 3d, 1897, at the family residence in Boardman twp., occurred the death of Mrs. B. Thillen in the 59th year of her age. She was born in Canton Rading, Luxemburg, Sept. 11, 1838, and came to America with her parents in 1860, they settling in Luxemburg, Dubuque county, Ia. Here she was married to Mr. Thillen in 1863 and removed to this township where they have since resided. Nine children were born to them of whom eight with the husband survive to mourn the loss of a loving companion and mother.

The funeral was held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church and attended by the many friends and neighbors who join with us in expressing their sympathy with the bereaved family

(Note: WPA records indicate Anna Thillen, 1838 - 03 May 1897, buried in St. Joseph's cemetery.)
