Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 07 May 1897. Strawberry Point column.

Died at his home on Friday, April 30, the life of Samuel V. Teesdale passed from this world to a better world beyond. He had been suffering for some time with consumption, but was confined in bed for only about four weeks preceding his death.

Deceased was the son of George and Elizabeth Teesdale. He was born Sept. 30, 1862, in Fayette county. In March, 1886 he was married to Tena Ward and their union was blest with one child, Maud, who is now an orphan, her mother having died in 1891.

Samuel was again united in marriage with Mary Dunsmoor in October 1893. One child, Ray, came to bless their home.

Although for two years he fought that dreaded disease, yet it finally conquered him at the age of 31 years and 5 months. He was the last one of his family, all the others having died of the same disease.

He was converted and joined the M.E. church in January 1891, continuing a faithful member until his death. He was especially bright and happy in his last days and greeted everyone with a smile. Though the family mourn yet it is not without hope.

The funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at the house and at 3 p.m. at County Corners church. Interment at County Corners cemetery. Rev. D. C. Perry officiated, assisted by Rev. J. B. Watt, his former pastor.
