Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 05 Mar. 1897. From an article detailing the deaths of four Fleming siblings.

Mary Ellen Fleming, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Fleming, died Feb. 21st, 1897, at 5 o'clock p.m., of diptheria, aged 8 years, one month and 14 days. She was born Jan. 7th, 1889. Little Mamie was always cheerful and happy, the pet of the family as well as every one she came in contact with.
