Elkader Register, Fri morning, 29 Jan. 1897. McGregor column.
Two fishermen lived in a hut on the island opposite from Northtown. One of them, Kitch, by name, went to Prairie du Chien Saturday, and returning in the storm in the evening it is supposed he lost his way, for he never reached the hut. The next morning his partner found him frozen to death about 70 rods from the hut.
