John Crooke died in his room Sunday night, after years of feeble health. He has been a citizen of McGregor for thirty odd years, most of the time being in the fire insurance business. About five years ago his failing health compelled him to give up work and he spent a few months with his brother in Milwaukee. He was never married but has always lived a lonely life, and the more so because confined to his room by lameness. He was 69 years old and was born in England. The remains were taken to Milwaukee Tuesday for interment beside his brothers.
