Funeral Services held for retired Wadena farmer:
Military services were held Monday, Jan 8, at Burnham-Wood Funeral home by Rev. Kenneth Rumppe, for Benjamin Hulbert, retired Wadena farmer, who died Friday, Jan 5. Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post of Wadena.

Pallbearers were Russell Popenhagen, John Gage, Faye Whittenbaugh, Russell Jones, Wilder Mattocks and Jerry Lestina.

Benjamin Hulbert was born Nov. 3, 1889, at Elkader. He was one of nine children born to George and Bertha Alitz Hulbert.

He received his education in schools in rural Clayton county. During World War I he served active duty in France.

On Sept. 22, 1919, he was united in marriage to Ninabell Abel at McGregor. One son, Verdell, was born to them.

They farmed their entire married lives in Clayton, Allamakee and Fayette counties. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, West Union, for the past six years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son, sister, Esther Macha; brothers, George, Glen, Vern, Verni, Alvah and Curley.

Surviving are his grandson, Terry, daughter-in-law, LeAnna, Clermont; sister Jessie Behrens, Elkader; nieces and nephews.
