Elkader's Oldest Resident Dies (May 11 1950)

ELKADER (Special) -- Funeral services for George Hulbert, age 94, Elkader's oldest resident who died Monday morning at his home here in Elkader will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Oelke Funeral home, where the remains lie in state. Burial will be in the East Side cemetery.

Mr. Hulbert was born at Clayton Nov. 27, 1855 and moved to Elkader vicinity on a farm 65 years ago. He farmed on this same farm until 1926 when he retired and moved to Elkader. Mrs. Hulbert [Bertha Alitz Hulbert] died nine years ago.

He is survived by six sons: Ben and Glen of Wadena; Verni and Vern of Rockford, Ill.; Jack andAlvah of Elkader; and two daughters, Mrs. Vance Macha of New Hampton and Mrs. Valley Behrens of Elkader.
