Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Jun. 1900. Strawberry Point column.
Last Sunday evening at his home occurred the death of Oscar L. Waldenville. He was born at Berne, Switzerland, Oct. 24th, 1854. Leaving home he came to Pennsylvania, when 29 years of age, where he was engaged in the coal mines. He lived here four years then went to Kalo, Iowa, from there to Manson, Iowa, from here to Rockwell City, then Lorenville, Ia., then to Manson, Iowa, again from here he went to Clare, Iowa, then to Rolfe, Iowa, from which place he came here and has since resided. In 1881, at Kalo, he was married to Anna Belle Smith. Eight children made their home happy, one having preceded its father to the great beyond. Seven children with the bereaved wife mourn the loss of a kind and true husband and father. He also leaves a sister who resides in Paris. Although not a member of any church he attended when he could. He sang in the Universalist choir and was instructor of the band. He was a member of the M.W.A. The funeral occurred at his home Tuesday conducted by Rev. Gibbons. We extend our sympathy.
(Note: WPA records indicate Oscar L. Waldendille, 1856 - 17 Jun. 1900, buried in Strawberry Point cemetery.)
