Wm. F. Rankin passed away at his home east of town last Thursday. He was born at North Hampton, Mass., March 23, 1828, where he lived but a short time then with his father and mother he moved to Lorain Co., Ohio, and in 1858 moved to Lodomillo twp., locating on a farm. Aug. 15, 1850, he was married to Maggie Westfall of Ohio. Three children blessed their home, Clarence residing at Pomoroy, and Mrs. Tremaine and Guy residing at Fort Dodge. Mrs. Rankin died Aug. 6, 1875, and Feb. 23, 1878, he married Mrs. Blakely, at Independence. One son, Ira, came to brighten this union. Deceased has been one of Clayton county's best farmers, he was a man whose word was good, and he was always willing to do what was right. The funeral services were held at the home Saturday, Rev. Gibbons officiating. We extend our sympathy to the wife and children.
