His wife preceded him to the grave about ten years ago. To them were born five sons and two daughters, one died and the others have grown to be men and women. They are: Henry at Maynard, Iowa; Wm. at Ash Creek, Minn.; Charles and Louis, of Osborne; Mrs. Rudolp Eberhard, of Cox Creek, and Mrs. Geo. Meyer, of Volga twp,, besides these a stepson at Chicago, a brother William, of Read, and one sister Mrs. Aug. Hamman, of Garnavillo mourn his loss.

Deceased was a quiet and unassuming man, honorable in his dealings with his neighbors, honored and respected by all who have known him. By his death the community loses a respected citizen and the family a beloved father and friend. Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved.
