Elkader Register, Thur., 10 May 1900.

G. F. Wiest, an old and respected citizen of Guttenberg, died in that city on Thursday, May 3rd, 1900. He was born i Ludwigsberg, Wurtemberg, Oct. 15, 1825. At the age of 23 he came to Cincinnati, Ohio. On Dec. 10, 1850, he was married to Miss Philippine Class, and after 4 years came to Guttenberg where he has since resided. For half a century he has been connected with the business interests of our sister city, and was honored and trusted as a progressive citizen. He was one of the founders of the Turner society in the United States and northeastern Iowa and was a member at the time of his death.

His funeral on Sunday last was one of the largest ever held in Guttenberg.
