Elkader Register, Thur., 10 May 1900.

William F. Cooper.

The subject of this sketch was born in 1819, in Ohio, his parents being John and Catherine Cooper. He moved to Michigan where in Aug. 1847 he married. The result of this union was nine children. In 1848 Mr. Cooper went to California where he remained for three years. In 1850 they came to Iowa, residing most of the time near Strawberry Point. They moved to Elkader in 1894. Mr. Cooper died Sunday morning, May 6th, of old age, going peacefully to his rest. He is survived by a wife, three sons, Alonzo in California, Dell at Edgewood, Grant at Monticello, and three daughters, Miss Mellissa and Mrs. C. W. Walser of this place, and Mrs. John D. Wilder at Cedar Falls.

His remains were taken to Strawberry Point, Tuesday morning, where funeral services were held by Rev. M. Ring, of Elkader. He has fought the good fight, and has gone to his reward. Our sympathy is with the bereaved.
