Funeral services for Irma Mae Kuehl, 89, were held Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport. Pastor Tom Martin officiated the service with burial at the Union Cemetery, Littleport. Honorary pallbearers were Hazel Sylvester, Norma Hughes, Kathleen Stocks, Melvin and Arleen Hakert. Pallbearers were Marvin Homewood, Raymond Kuehl, Mike Kuehl, Doug Kuehl Jr., Kent Lange and Jeff Peake.
Irma Mae Kuehl, daughter of John and Minnie (Schuldt) Nading, was born February 2, 1909, in Lodomillo Township near Littleport. She was raised and educated in the area, attending country school, graduating from Littleport High School May 25, 1928. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Kuehl November 28, 1928. Seven children were born to this union.
Irma and LeRoy spent their married life together farming. They both enjoyed dancing, playing cards with their neighbors and traveling. Irma enjoyed her last years quilting, sewing, reading, painting ceramics and gardening. Her garden and her flowers were her pride and joy. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Secret Pal Club, Ladies Aid, and Prayer Circle.
Irma Mae Kuehl died Tuesday morning, Oct. 27, 1998, at Central Community Hospital after a short illness.
Survivors include her sons, Lawrence (Betty) Kuehl, Edgewood, Dale (Alice) Kuehl, Austin, Texas, Douglas (Joyce) Kuehl, Princeton, Mo.; her daughters, Pat (ValDean) Lange, Elkader, Barbara (Ronald) Peake, Farmersburg; her son-in-law, Robert Homewood, Rockwell City; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
