Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the Bethel church near Osterdock fo Samuel George Mallory, long time resident of this community. Mr. Mallory passed away last Firday, June 18, 1948 at the age of 86. He had been in poor health for some time.
The services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Eshbaugh of St. Paul's Lutheran church, in charge of the Beerman Funeral Service.
Mr. Mallory was born on December 21, 1861, the son of Augustus and Rose "Knee" Mallory at Colesubrg. When he was a small boy, the family moved to a farm in Mallory township where his life was spent with the exception of two years when he was a young man. He returned to the farm and later was united in marriage to Mary White of McGregor, Ia. To this union one son, Dean S. Mallory was born, and Mrs. Mallory died when he was born. He returned with the baby to the home of his parents, where they lived for a number of years.
Some years later he was married to Grace White. To this union was born on son, who died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Mallory moved to Guttenberg about three years ago.
He is survived by his wife, a son Dean, a grandson, and two great grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother.
The brother and sisters are; H. A. Mallory of Garber, Mrs. Kate Palmer of Spring Valley, Wis., Mrs. Alta Smith of Garber, Mrs. Leta Brown of Colesburg, and Mrs. Bess Lee of Britt, Iowa.
