Guttenberg Press, Sept. 1, 1949..Edgewood, Ia. - Services were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bethel church near Osterdock for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brown who died at her home near Edgewood Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery. The Rhines funeral home was in charge.
Mary Elizabeth Hyde, daughter of Aaron and Harriett Hyde, was born Oct. 27, 1877 in Clayton county near Osterdock and spent her entire lifetime in this community. She was married to Benjamin Brown in 1899.
The surviving children are Mrs. Ethel Braghahn of Greeley, Mrs. Zala Troester of McGregor, Mrs. Amber Meyer at home, Mrs. Mildred Jones of Wood, Dale Brown, and Raymond Borwn; two brothers; James Hyde of Colesbug, and John Hyde of Osterdock; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Harris, Mrs. Alta Funk and Mrs. Emma Gorden; 22 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband who died in 1937, two daughters, two sons, and three sisters.
