Mrs. E. Grannis of Strawberry Point, died last Monday morning. The 'Press' of that place says of her:

She had for so long been a resident of Strawberry Point that her death was more keenly felt than it otherwise possibly might have been. Being a prominent member of the Methodist church in this place, she was universally beloved by the society as well as by scores outside. Hers was an exemplary life -- one to which Christians may point with pride.

From the Visalia (Cal.) Daily Times of March 22nd, we clip the following obituary notice of Mrs. Grannis, Mother of Dr. M.M. Grannis, late of this city:

Died, in Visalia, Cal., March 20th, 1876, Mrs. Eliza Grannis, mother of Dr. M.M. Grannis.

Mrs. Eliza Grannis (deceased), was fifty-four years of age, a native of Vermont. She came to California two years ago, with her sick daughter, Emma, to seek a more genial clime; but nothing could stay the hand of death, and the broken-hearted mother laid her child to rest in June.

But her trouble and anguish was not done - soon the feil disease, consumption, fell upon her only surviving daughter, Rhoda, and for another twelve months there was nothing but heart-ache and sleepless night for the watching mother.

Death came at last and relieved the worn-out body, and freed another tired spirit from its thralldom. But so much watching had worn away the vitality, and utterly broken the spirit of the mother. She was brave and resolute - did not complain, although no rest came to her. Each day found her with less strength, until, upon the 20th inst., her spirit took its flight to dwell with her angel daughters.
