Mrs. Margaret O. Bergan died at her home at St. Olaf last Friday, April _th, aged seventy-four years. Mrs. Bergan was born March 9th, 1848, in Nummedahl, Norway, and when fourteen years of age came to this country settling in Clayton county, where she has ever since lived. She was confirmed by Rev. Koren in the Clermont church and was married to Ole Bergan, who preceded her in death in 1892. They lived on a farm for several years, until 1900 when she sold her farm and moved to Gunder, where she lived fifteen years, then she moved to St. Olaf with her brother, Gullick, where she made her home until her death.
Mrs. Bergan has been in poor health for a number of years. About two years ago when the "flu" epidemic swept the country she was taken very ill, but she recovered from this illness. Since the 11th of November last she has not been able to be up and around.
She is survived by one brother, Gullick, who had taken care of her and done what he could for her until death relieved her, also one sister, Mrs. Sarah Leith, and many friends.
The funeral was held last Saturday, Rev. Aversen officiating in English in St. Olaf and in Norwegian at the Norway church. The choir sang several beautiful songs, Interment in the Norway church cemetery.
