Services for Cephas Morley 87, were Wednesday afternoon at the Rhines funeral home in Edgewood, with the Rev. Alfred Christenson officiating, and at the First Methodist church in Colesburg, the Rev. Floyd R. Maynard officiating. Burial was in the Brown cemetery in Colesburg. He died Monday afternoon in Garber.

Morley was born June 28, 1862 in Fayette county, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Iowa when he was two years old. They settled first near Immanuel, and later in Mallory Township near Colesburg.

He married Ermina Holtzman Dec. 22, 1889. She died April 22, 1934. He married Mrs. Ella Hindal Oct. 19, 1935.

Morley was a farmer in Mallory and Elk townships in Clayton county. He was active in civic affairs, having served as justice of the peace, president of the Elk township school board, and as a township trustee.

He is survived by his wife; six sons, Elmer of Garber, Harry of Greeley, Frank and Ross of Edgewood, Gilbert of Cedar Rapids, and Earl of Edgewood; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Combs of Delaware, and Mrs. Hazel Brookshire, Mrs. Jessie Smock, and Mrs. Beulah Rizer, all of Edgewood; a sister, Mrs. Alice Moreland of Colesburg; 38 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his first wife, a brother, and a sister.
