Sarah A. Moore was born in September 1847 at Troy, N.Y., and came to Iowa in her early girlhood. She was married at Pleasant Ridge to Mathias Mead when quite young and lived happily here with him until death called him to a better land about seventeen years ago.

Mrs. Mead identified herself with the M.E. church of North McGregor and was ever a consistent member making friends with all who were favored with meeting her.

A few years ago she moved to Mason City and since that day her health seemed to decline. Six months ago she began to fail rapidly and death claimed her for his own on Saturday April 5, leaving hosts of friends both here and at Mason City to mourn the loss of a good true woman.

Her funeral was held at Mason City on Monday forenoon. Her remains were brought here on Monday's afternoon train and were met by a large concourse of sorrowing ones who followed her to Oakland Cemetery where she sweetly sleeps today, her new made grave covered over with beautiful flowers, tokens of esteem from many who knew her to love her.

Her pall bearers were Larry Jennings, W. Foster, R. Quigley, Frank Kinsley, Al Sawvell and W.A. Brown.

Mrs. Mead leaves to mourn her loss, three sisters in Troy, N.Y., one in Denver, Col., and one, Mrs. James Cummins of Mason City; two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Cox of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Maggie Wiley of Mason City and a son Oliver Mead of Spokane, Wash.
