Clayton County Register, Thur., 05 Oct. 1933. Elkport columns.

Mrs. Dorathea Behrens, nee Meier, was born in Goldberg, Germany, June 1, 1852. Dec. 27, 1922, the deceased came to America and was united in holy wedlock to Mr. C. Behrens, Sr., June 7, 1924, her husband preceding her in death Feb. 10, 1925. The deceased was a devout Christian and loved by those who knew her; in her late illness she was with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plagman, where she passed peacefully to her reward Sept. 25, 1933, at 10:45 p.m., after a long siege of untold suffering, which she bore uncomplainingly. She leaves to mourn her departure three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kurtzbak, Alliance, Nebr., Mrs. Elizabeth Steinman, and Mrs. Augusta Patow, both living in Germany; one brother, William Meier, Clinton, Iowa, besides nieces and nephews and others too numerous to mention.

She reached the age of 81 years, three months and 24 days. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 28, 1933, at the Henry Plagman home at 1:45 and at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran Imm. church, Elkport, with burial in the church cemetery at Elkport, the Rev. F. E. Damm in charge.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Becker of Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Behrens, Mrs. Layton and Mr. and Mrs. John Lenhart of Littleport.
