Henry William Wacker died at his home in Elkader on Monday night, October 2. His health had been failing for several months, but he had been confined to his home for only a few days. He was 57 years old, born on Feb. 11, 1876, in Mederville, a son of Henry Wacker and Mary Kiefer Wacker. On Jan. 8, 1902, he married Kate Schmitz in Elkader. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. H. F. Deviney of Waterloo, and Mrs. Philip Andrews of Chicago, one son, Howard Wacker, one grandchild, Mary Catherine Deviney, three brothers, George Wacker of Dubuque, Chris Wacker of Mederville, and Frank Wacker of Elkader, and five sisters, Mrs. Anna Leonard of Elkader, Mrs. Margaret Pugh of Centralia, Wash., Carrie Wacker of Olympia, Wash., Mrs. George Alden of Bonabarte, Iowa, and Elizabeth Wacker of Cedar Rapids.
For several years Mr. Wacker owned and operated the Elkader Bottling Works, but during most of his residence of 28 years in Elkader he has been chiefly occupied with managing his restaurant.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:3o at the home, and at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical church, the Rev. G. T. Brewster officiating in the absence of Rev. Paul Kitterer. Burial took place at the Mederville cemetery.
