Mrs. Joseph Larson, born Gladys Bernice Cook, was born May 12, 1905, near Elkader, and died Wednesday evening, Sept. 6th, at 7:20. Mrs. Larson was evidently in fair health until eight weeks ago, when she began to have trouble with her heart. She was advised to spend several weeks in bed for rest, but her condition did not improve, and after being confined to her bed for eight weeks, she died.
The deceased was graduated from the Elkader high school and also from Rose's Beauty college at Waterloo.
On July 11, 1926, she was united in marriage at Independence, Iowa, to Joseph E. Larson. One child was born to this union, namely, Robert. Since 1931 she and her husband and son have made their home in Elkader.
She leaves to mourn her early departure, her husband and son, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook, sister, Helen Cook, and brother, Harold Cook; her grandfather, Almeron Cook, her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Williamson, besides a host of friends.
Mrs. Larson was baptized and for the past year was attending the services of the Evangelical church. She reached the age of 28 years, three months, 24 days.
Services were held from the home at 1:45 Saturday, and 2:00 o'clock from Friedens Evangelical church. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
