Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Bennington were held at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Boynton, four and a half miles east of town, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. J. Elwick, pastor of the local M.E. church. Music was furnished by friends of the deceased. Mrs. J. S. Knight and Mrs. James Sauerbry sang "We'll Never Say Good-bye," and E. Angier, "Gathering Home." The pall bearers were Harold Knight, Dean Sauerbry, Edwin Kramer of this place, William Voshell, Frances Kitterman and Randall Beldon, the latter three being from Volga. Interment took place in the Strawberry Point beautiful cemetery.
Hazel Adel Boynton, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Boynton, was born Nov. 12, 1909, at the old Boynton home 4 1/2 miles east of Strawberry Point. After finishing school in her home district she entered Strawberry Point high school, graduating with the class of 1927. Hazel was ever a wide-awake girl, with a happy disposition, winning friends wherever she went. She was married to Richard Bennington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bennington of Volga, Aug. 10, 1929. to this union two sons were born, Keith R. and Curtis R., the latter preceding the mother in death. She had been in failing health for some time and in March it was thought best to take her to the sanitarium at Oakdale, where she passed away July 12, 1933. She is survived by her husband, son Keith, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Boynton, four sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Howard (Ellen) Glass of Arlington, Faith, Elsie, Florence, Floyd, Howard, Edwin and Virgil of this place, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
