Helen Behrens, daughter of Albert and Gertrude Behrens was born near Mederville, January 7, 1917, and died, July 10, 1933, aged 16 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Helen received her grade education in the Mederville school, and had attended high school in Elkader two years.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Reverend Kitterer of the Evangelical church officiating (several words blurred) and appropriate hymns.
The active pall bearers were Donation Meder, Francis McTaggart, George Hackert, Ross Powell, Darrell Huggins and Harry Powell. Honorary pall bearers were: Jermaine Erickson , Helen Gmelin, Maxine Debes, Marion Bailey, Lorna Murphy, and Kathleen Leonard. Greta Hackert and Marjorie Leonard acted as flower girls.
Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
She is survived by her father, mother and one sister, Cretchen, two grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Alderson of Mederville and Mrs. Lena Opperman of Strawberry Point., and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in this vicinity.
