Otto Englehart, well known automobile salesman of this section, was killed early Tuesday morning on the paving just on the north edge of town. No one knows just how the accident occurred. The funeral was held here Friday afternoon, with interment in the city cemetery. A large number from neighboring towns attended the funeral.

The funeral of Otto L. Englehardt, which was one of the largest held in Garnavillo, was held there in the Turner Hall last Friday, July 7th, with Mr. Vance of Minneapolis officiating. Interment was made in the Garnavillo cemetery.
Otto L. Englehardt, who came to his death between midnight and three a.m. the morning of July 4th, near Garnavillo, was born March 20, 1881, at St. Olaf, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Englehardt, and so at the time of his death had reached the age of 52 years, three months and 14 days.
He received his early education in the town of his birth and on September 14, 1904, he was united in marriage with Miss Elfrieda Oelke, at Farmersburg. To this union one daughter, Maurine C. (Mrs. Ed. Dickman) was born and she, together with the widow, the aged mother and four brothers and two sisters survive.
For four years the deceased resided on a farm near Luana, then 12 years in Farmersburg and later seven years here in Elkader. For the last three years he has lived near Garnavillo, following the business of automobile salesman.
His surviving brothers are Geo., Charlie, Fred and Roy, and the surviving sisters are Bertha and Pearl. He was a member of both the Woodman and Masonic lodges.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil Buck, Calmar; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Engelhardt, Webster, S. Dak.; Mrs. Mabel Engelhardt and daughter Bernice, Maquoketa; John Falb and son, Elgin.
