Henrietta Irene Lamphier, daughter of Henry and Abigail Lamphier, was born on a farm in Lodomillo township August 9, 1878, and died at her home in Cox Creek township of Bright's disease, at 5:30 p.m., May 12, 1933, at the age of 54 years, nine months and 3 days. She was one of a family of eleven children, the others being, David and Clara, who died when they were small children, Mrs. Elizabeth McLane of Manchester, Iowa; Mrs. Fred Schier of Edgewood; Mrs. George Ingalls of Lansing; Mrs. Henry Bottleman of near Littleport; Mrs. Charles Carner of New Albin, Minn., Earl of Bloom, Wis., and John and Elam of Strawberry Point.
June 24, 1901, at Volga City she was united in marriage to Daniel Markham. to this union three children were born: Lloyd of Cox Creek township, Mrs. Colista Kelley of Osterdock; and Clark of Plattsmouth, Nebr.
The husband, these children, the aged mother and five grandchildren are left to mourn for her. Her father died several years ago.
Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church at ten o'clock, May 15th, Father Boyle conducting the services. Burial was made in the Cox Creek Catholic cemetery.
Those attending the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Sy_ Plu_ of Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scovil of Waterloo and Charles Woock of Waterloo.
