Fairview: Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for John Blaker who passed Away at his home on Wednesday after an illness of some time. Rev. Hanson officiated and burial was made in the Brown cemetery. The casket was supported by six of his nephews, Johnny Blaker, Chance, Elmer, Wayne, Russel and Dick Brown.
John W. Blaker was born January 11, 1853, Greene County, Pennsylvania, and passed away at his home in Fairview on May 10, 1933, at the age of 80 years and 4 months. On October 4, 1883, he was united in marriage to Lillian Brown who survives him, with one son, Ed Blaker, of McGregor, one granddaughter, Mrs. Pearl Stickrud, of Chicago, and one great-grandson Richard Milton Stickrod, also of Chicago. Two brothers, Brice and James Blaker of Colesburg also survive. His parents, four sisters, one brother and a grandson, Russell Blaker, preceding him in death.
Mr. Blaker was a great reader of the Bible and was very devoted to his home and worked hard. He always spoke well of his friends and was fond of children.
