Clayton County Register, Thur., 27 Apr. 1933. Farmersburg columns.
Mrs. Emilie Marie Baade, wife of Wm. Baade, was born November 19, 1877, in Clayton county, Farmersburg township. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Riekof. On February 24, 1878, she was made a child of God by the sacrament of baptism. She grew up with her parents on the farm. She grew to young womanhood on the farm with her parents and on March 4, 1898, was joined in marriage with Wm. Baade. Together with her husband she lived on the farm for ten years east of Farmersburg. After these years on the farm they moved to Farmersburg to make their home here. Once again after they settled here in Farmersburg, they took up farming but only for one year. Already at that time heart trouble hindered Mrs. Baade in carrying out her work.
Mr. and Mrs. Baade were blessed with two children, Helmuth and Clarence. Helmuth at the present time is on a farm in South Dakota, and Clarence on a farm near Clayton Center.
About 15 years ago Mrs. Baade began to suffer with heart trouble. From time to time the affliction gave her considerable trouble. Three times she was in very critical condition, the fourth causing her death. During all these years of illness she was constantly under the doctors care, finding it necessary often to call him to relieve her pain and suffering. During all these years of suffering she bore very patiently, trusting in God who knew what was best for her. For the past few months it seemed as though she might rally again, for she was able to be up and about the house. A week ago Thursday she was suddenly stricken anew. On Good Friday afternoon she asked for the Lord's Supper. On Tuesday afternoon her condition became grave. Finally on Wednesday afternoon the Lord saw fit to call her from this vale of sorrow. She died at the age of 55 years and five months. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn, her widower, her two sons, Helmuth and Clarence, together with their wives and four grandchildren, Elwin, Wanda, Gerald and Dorothy Ann. Also her sisters, Mrs. August Mahnke of Farmersburg, Mrs. August Buchheim of Humbolt, S.D., Mrs. Otto Buchheim of Clayton Center, Mrs. Rudolph Kurse of Farmersburg, and Mrs. Wm. Staack of Clayton Center. Also her aged mother-in-law, Mrs. Joe Baade. Besides she leaves to mourn many relatives and friends.. May she rest in peace and the eternal light shine.
(Note: Submitter suspects the surname Kurse should be Kruse.)
