Clayton County Register, Thur., 02 Mar. 1933.
Mrs. Wm. Musfeldt died here in Elkader last Friday evening at 6:15 at the age of 51 years, three months and 13 days.
Alvina Emma Ortman, daughter of John and Mary Ortman, was born Nov. 11, 1881, in Elk township, this county. She attended the schools in her home township and on May 22, 1900, she was united in marriage to Wm. C. Musfeldt of Volga township.
Two children were born to this union, Eloise, now Mrs. Leonard Krieg of Communia, and Vallie, located at Traer, Iowa. For the first thirteen years of their married life Mr. and Mrs. Musfeldt farmed in Volga township. The next nine years they spent in Elkader and for one year they lived in Mason City. Since leaving Mason City they have made Elkader their home again.
Mrs. Musfeldt was a member of the Evangelical church here and a member of its Frauen Verein. Having submitted to six major operations, Mrs. Musfeldt knew sickness and suffering and it was only in the last year or so that she had begun to enjoy life to its fullest.
She is survived by her husband and two children already mentioned; also five sisters and three brothers, as follows: Mrs. Ida Wenkstern, Guttenberg; Mrs. Emma Plagman, Garber; Mrs. Anna Tieden, Elkader; Mrs. Linda Seeley, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Lizzie Gifford, Elkport; August and Henry Ortman, Elkport, and Otto Ortman of Whitewater, Wis.
Services were held at the late home Monday afternoon at 1:30 and at 2:00 in the Evangelical church, where the Frauen Verein attended in a body. Interment was made in the Garnavillo cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.
