Garnavillo: Mrs. Mary Hammann (nee Busker), one of this community's pioneer residents and worthy mothers, passed away in her home in Garnavillo township on Saturday evening at the age of 87 years, four months and one day.

Mrs. Hammann was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany, Sept. 20, 1845, later coming to America and settling in Garnavillo township, Clayton county, Iowa, where she spent the rest of her ambitious and Christian life. She was married to John Hammann, who preceded her in death in 1908. Mrs. Hammann is survived by two sons, John of Garnavillo township, and Henry of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Baxter, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss her. One daughter has also preceded the mother in death.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. M. J. Harder of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Garnavillo this (Thursday) afternoon. The body will be laid to rest in the City cemetery at Guttenberg.
