Charles Uecker of Wagner, S.D., passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 28th, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1874, at Libgarton, Germany. At the age of nine years he came with his parents to American. He lived near Elkader during his early life and later went to Dakota where he was united in marriage to Anna Benson of Demont, S,D.
Two weeks before his death he underwent an operation at Rochester. It was found he had cancer of the liver. Mrs. Geo. Lembke and Mrs. Philip Cords were with him during his operation, his wife was not able to be with him. When he was able to be moved Mr. and Mrs. Philip Cords brought him and his wife to their home near Monona. Here he visited many friends and relatives.
When he returned home he failed fast and passed away Tuesday morning.
He leaves to mourn his death a wife and 5 children, Bryon, Grace, Bernard, Robert and James. He also leaves one brother and three sisters, Mr. Frank Uecker of Marshall, Minn., Mrs. Geo. Lembke of Elkader, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Meyer of Nunica, Mich., and Mrs. Philip Cords of Monona, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at Wagner.
