Clayton County Register, Thur., 13 Sept. 1928. Pg. 1 & 5.

After an illness of about three months, Mrs. Henry Wistrick, an aged resident of Clayton county, passed away at the Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa, on Monday, Sept. 10th, 1928, at eleven o'clock in the morning, at the age of 73 years, three months and 15 days.

Marie, daughter of William Bente and wife Marie, nee Hilgerman, was born in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, Iowa, on May 27, 1855.

Having grown to young womanhood she was married to Henry Wistrick, on July 20th, 1873; remaining on the old Bente farm after her marriage. This union was blessed with seven children of which two boys died in infancy. After forty years of hard labor on the farm Mr. and Mrs. Wistrick moved to Elkader where in the presence of children, relatives and friends they were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on July 20th, 1923. After a few years Mr. Wistrick was called in death, on Feb. 28th, 1927. Then Mrs. Wistrick remained in her home, together with her grandchild, Dorothy, who had been in grandmother's care and keeping since July, 1916, when a baby only a few weeks old.

Mrs. Wistrick had always enjoyed good health until about three months ago when she was compelled to seek medical aid. After a while she rallied enough to make a trip which had been planned for some time. Accompanied by her grandchild, Dorothy, she left for Montana, on June 21st, for a visit with her daughter Liddie and family. On August 10th they returned from their trip and from that time on Grandma Wistrick began to fail visibly. Hoping to find help and relief elsewhere her wish was gratified, and she was taken to the Finley Hospital, Dubuque, on Sunday, Sept. 2nd, by her nephew Fred Wistrick, who was always considered a member of the family, and who surely proved to be a great comfort and a faithful standby in the trying days of special need. On Wednesday, Sept. 5th, she underwent a serious operation, after which she lingered on between hopes and fears until Monday morning, Sept. 10th, when she closed her eyes in the last sleep. The same day her mortal remains were brought to the Wistrick home in Elkader. The passing of a good mother is mourned by five children: Mrs. Margaret Muller, of Cox Creek township; Mrs. Louis Klink, of Motor; Mrs. Jansey Tieden, of Whitewater, Mont.; William Wistrick, on the home farm in Cox Creek township; and Mrs. Ed. Leonard, of Elkader.

She also leaves 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother Louis Bente of Cox Creek twp., other relatives and a host of friends.

She was a faithful member of the Fruen-Verein, a good neighbor and friend, ever ready to offer and willing to give assistance. May she rest in peace, her memory will linger on.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:15 in the Evangelical church and interment was made in the East Side cemetery, with her pastor, Rev. C. H. Franke officiating.
