Clayton County Register, Thur., 06 Sept. 1928. Strawberry Point columns.

Mrs. John Frederick, nee Elizabeth Mueller, was born September 3rd, 1863, at Kleinheubach, Bavaria, Germany. In 1879 she came to America and into this community, helping here and there with housework. September 14, 1881, she was married to Mr. John Frederick, and they made their home on a farm northwest of town until twelve ago, when they moved to Strawberry Point. Mrs. Frederick was not feeling well for several months, suffering under a complications of ills, which affected the heart. She sought relief at Monticello and Independence but without success. Coming home her condition became worse from day to day and Tuesday noon at 12:30 she quietly passed away, attaining an age of 64 years, 11 months and 25 days. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Julia Feulner, Louis Frederick, Mrs. Amelia Tracey, Geo. Frederick, Walter Frederick, Mrs. Hilda Nodwift, and Elmer Frederick, all from this neighborhood, and John Frederick who lives at Arlington. There is also one step-daughter, Mrs. Ida Glazier, and fourteen grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Chas Frerick, Mrs. A Kleinlein, and two brothers, Frank Miller and George Miller, also of this neighborhood. Mrs. Frederick was a member of Emanuel's Lutheran congregation and a regular attendant of the services. She also was a member of the Ladies Aid Society taking an active part in its work for the welfare of the church. She was friendly and had a pleasant disposition. Mrs. Frederick will be missed not only by her own but many of her neighbors and friends. May she rest in peace.

Interment did not take place until Monday on account of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Feulner and children who have been in the west, returning home Sunday. The pall bearers were Mrs. Frederick's five sons and son-in-law, Louie, George, John, Elmer, Walter and John Tracy.

Dedicated to memory of our mother:

A shadow rests upon our home,
We miss her smiling face,
Where 'er we look, where 'er we
turn,
We see her vacant place.

(Note: The surnames Miller / Mueller and Fredrick / Frederick were used interchangeably throughout this obit. She appears in WPA records under the surname Frederick. The submitter has no explanation for the differing surname spellings used in the obit.)
