Clayton County Register, Thur., 06 Sept. 1928. Strawberry Point columns.
Our community was saddened last Friday when the message came announcing the death of Miss Fannie Hoag, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Hoag, of this place, at Nashville, Ind. The remains arrived here Saturday morning, accompanied by her friend, Miss Harriet Kersey of Nashville. Private funeral services were held at the E. H. Hoag home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Elwick. The casket supporters were Chas. Blanchard, C. B. Moser, H. M. Filehler, Carl Schoeppe, Percy Preston and H. J. Esch. Here Fannie was born, received her education, graduated from our public school and later attended different colleges. While at the Northwestern University her health began to fail but she continued to teach until she had to give it up. Everything was done for her, and about three years ago she went to Nashville in hopes of being benefitted, but without success, and death relieved her from her sufferings last Thursday evening. She was a member of the M.E. church and while here was an earnest and faithful worker in the Epworth League. Besides her parents, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Sanders of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Mae Chidster of Spokane, Wash., who was unable to be present, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
