Clayton County Register, Thur., 09 Aug. 1928.

James Joseph Uriell passed away at the home of his parents in Read township Friday morning, August 3, at 9:20 o'clock.

He had been in apparently good health until about three months ago when a complication of ailments overtook him.

All that medical aid and loving care to bring back complete health was done but to no avail.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, Iowa, and died fortified and comforted by its last rites.

He leaves to mourn his departure his parents, four sisters and two brothers, namely: Stella, Zita, Virgil and Donald, at home; Madonna, who is attending school in Dubuque, and Mrs. Joseph Kister of Garnavillo. Funeral services were held Monday morning, Aug. 6, at St. Joseph's church, Elkader, with Rev. James P. Taken officiating.

The pall bearers were Roland Walz, Marvin Kainz, Lawrence Downey, Willie Scherf, Orvil Reimer, Melvin Ahrens.

Interment was made in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Among those in attendance from out of town were: Mrs. John Costigan, T. J. Brannon, I. D. Brannon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lynch and daughter Charlotte, and Mrs. Tillie McMahon from Lawler. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brannon and daughter, John Farrel, Ben. James, Maggie and Katie Brannon from Waucoma. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Auer and daughter Evelyn from Waukon, Mr. and Mrs. John Brannon and son Don from Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miehe from Oelwein, Miss Mary Liston from Dubuque, Miss Coletta McDermott, Mr. and Mrs. Dyer Hall, Mr. and Mrs. LeVern Dalen from Strawberry Point, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kister and family from Dyersville.
