Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 Aug. 1928. Volga City column.

Alice Laura, third daughter of John and Adelade Hayes, was born at Volga, Clayton county, Iowa, on July 5, 1869, and departed this life at 10 a.m., July 24, 1928, at the age of 59 years, and 19 days. she is one of a family of 12 children and the first to pass away, the youngest being 46 years of age. She attended the Volga City public schools and grew to womanhood in this community. The past few years Mrs. Robinson has made her home in Waterloo, Iowa. At the age of 21 she was united in marriage to David E. Robinson of this place. Three children were born to this union, Eva Mae Meyers, Lulu Grace Taylor and Valmah Glen Robinson. She became a christian in early life and later united with the Methodist church at Volga. Besides her children she leaves three grandchildren, Dorothy Meyers, Tommy and Babby Taylor, five sisters and six brothers, Mrs. Will Duff, Mrs. Kate Peterman, and Edward Hayes of Volga; John, Harry, Will, Vern and Grace Hayes of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; Mrs. Sam Robinson and Tom Hayes of Eagle Bend, Minn. two uncles John and Mark Fairbain of Pomona, Calif., besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Her death was the result of a complication of diseases. She was a patient sufferer for 14 weeks before called to her heavenly home.

And rise on strong, exulted wing
To live among the just.
Jesus, thou Prine of life,
Thy chosen cannot die
Like thee they conquer in the
strife
To reign with thee on high.

Pall bearers were six of her nephews, Allen and Kenneth Robinson, Owen Cummings, Earl Peterman, John Nydegger and Dan Thomas. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church, the pastor Rev. Robert Davies officiating. Interment was in Hill Crest cemetery.
