Elvin Franklin, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Litchfield, was born in Garnavillo twp., Oct. 3, 1900. About two years ago the family moved west, settling at Forest City, this state. Two weeks ago Elvin was taken sick with inflammatory rheumatism. Everything possible was done to save the child but he was beyond human help and died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25th, at 7 o'clock in the evening, aged 10 years, 2 months and 22 days. The remains were brought to Elkader, where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Berghahn, the child's grandmother, and at the grave, conducted by Rev. Franke.
