Guttenberg Press.. Dec. 4, 1891.
A deep sorrow has filled many hearts on account of the death of Mrs. S. G. Mallory, which occurred at her home near Osterdock on the night of December 4th.
She was sick less than a week. But thoguh her illness was short it was very severe. It was apparent for several days that she could not live, but although her death was expected, it was a crushing blow to her friends.
Mary White was born in Allamakee county, but passed most of her life in McGregor, where her folks still reside.
She was married in August 1889 to S. G. Mallory, and has since resided with her husband near Osterdock.
Just when the happy home was to be made brighter by the smiles of a little babe the wife and mother is called away, leaving the home sad and desolate, and blasting all the bright hopes they had for the future. Mary, as she was familiarly called had many friends outside her own famiy circle who deeply deplore that her useful life was cut so short.
It is not for us to understand why such things be. Let us leave that to God who "doeth all things well."
The funeral was held at the residence on Sunday. The serman was delivered by Rev. E. L. McName from John 15th chapter and 13th verse. Burial was in the Brown cemetery. Her parents, sisters and brothers were present. May the God of all consolation comfort the hearts of all who mourn her untimely death.
