Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 04 Aug. 1910. Local News column.
Word was received Tuesday of the death early that morning of George Rinkert, at Excelsior Springs, Mo. He had been suffering for a number of years with kidney trouble and a complication of other diseases and had gone there several weeks ago for treatment, but it proved unavailing.
His wife and his brother John were called there Saturday by his critical condition and arrived in time to be with him during the last hours.
George Rinkert was born in New York state January 1st, 1858, and thus was nearing 53 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Clayton county with his parents in 1859 and made his home here ever since, residing in Highland township most of the time.
In 1883 he was married to Lena Meisner and two children were born to them, a son, Fred, and a daughter, Carrie, his wife dying in 1885.
In 1889 he was married to Emma Behrens, and one son, Harry, came to them.
A brother, John Rinkert, of Volga, and sister,Jenny Bachtell, of Elkader, and numerous cousins also survive to mourn him.
His body was brought to Volga yesterday and the funeral will be held there tomorrow (Friday) morning.
Through his years of residence here his many good qualities have endeared him to a host of friends who have looked with sympathy and hope upon his efforts to regain health and who now join with his relatives in sorrow over his early death.
