Carl John Anderson was born near Stockholm, Sweden, March 7th, 1843, and died July 5th, 1910, his age being 67 years, 3 months and 28 days. At the age of 14 he united with the Swedish Lutheran church, of which he has always been a believer.
He was married to Christiana Peterson March 8th, 1875, and emigrated to America in the spring of 1880, settling about 3 miles east of Monona. After 5 years they moved to Monona, which has since been their home. To this union 3 children were born, Anton, of Garner, Mrs. Blanche Kirby, of Mason City, and Mrs. Minnie Ellenbolt, of Monona.
A number of years ago, while in the employ of the Railroad Company, he received an injury in the left leg, and since then has been a constant sufferer from the effects of it. About three months ago he was taken to his bed, where he has suffered patiently. He was a kind husband and father, and a good citizen and hard worker. His happiest hours were spent in his own home.
The funeral service was conducted at the house on Thursday, July 7th, by the congregational pastor, Rev. King. Burial in the Monona cemetery.
