After an illness of about two years Mrs. Emil Walleser, of Garnavillo, died Sunday in a hospital at New Richmond, Minn., where she had been taken for treatment. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon at Garnavillo. She is survived by her husband, six daughters, one of whom is Mrs. M. J. Geraghty, of Elkader; her aged father, two sisters, and other relatives. A host of friends will miss a kind neighbor and sympatize with the bereaved family.

Mrs. Sophia Frederica Walleser, nee Esbolt, was born on the 13th of March, 1856, in Kilbsow, Pomerania. At the age of thirteen years, with her parents, she came to America and settled in Garnavillo township. On November 1st, 1880, she was married to Emil Walleser. To this union ten children were born, one daughter, and two sons dying in infancy. Those left to mourn the mother's death are Lulu, married to Wm. Behrns; Etta, at home; Frona, married to M. J. Geraghty, of Elkader; Rose, at home; Amelia, at Chicago, and Joseph and Elsa, at home.
Three years ago she was taken sick with heart trouble, and since then a complication of diseases set in. Everything possible was done for her, and several weeks ago she was taken to New Richmond, Wis., for medical treatment, but of no avail, she found relief in death on Sunday, July 18th. Her husband and daughter Amelia were with her at the time of her death, and she was brought to her home Monday.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Braun, were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Wednesday afternoon. Interment in the new cemetery. The Frauen Verein, of which Mrs. Walleser was president, attended the funeral in a body.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, seven children, her aged father, and two sisters, Mrs. Schultz, of Elkport, and Mrs. Scheffert, of Lincoln, Nebr., besides many other relatives.
Those from Elsewhere who attended the funeral are the following: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuenzel and Emil Schumacher, of Fairbanks; Mrs. Henry Walleser, of Charles City; and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schultz, of Elkport.
