Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 10 Mar. 1910. Volga City Views column.
Nellie, yougest daughter of Myron and Emeline Lamphiear, was born at Volga City July 30th, 1873. She was the youngest of a family of three daughters, all of whom have gone to a better land. Ena, Mrs. Yearous, died in 1899; Lizzie, Mrs. Horton, died in 1908. "Nellie" as she was familiarly called, grew to womanhood in Volga and was married to Jas. H. Robbins, of Highland, Ia., Jan. 21st, 1889. They have since resided at Highland or Volga. To them were born four children, Harold, the eldest, in 1890, and is now in the U.S. Navy; Thelma was born in 1895, Ruth in 1902, and Wyman Joy in 1905, are all at home.
Mrs. Robbins became a Christian early in life and was a faithful follower of the meek and lowly Jesus. She, with her good husband, united with the Methodist church in Volga in March, 1905, and was always true to its teachings. She was an active worker in the Sunday School, being one of its teachers and was also a member of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid Society.
She will be missed not only by her family and friends, but the church of which she was an honored member has met with an irreparable loss. She leaves besides her sorrowing husband and children, her father, who is thus bereft of his last child. Her mother preceded her to her Heavenly home but a few months ago. Mrs. Robbins died in peace on the morning of March 3rd, 1910. May the good Father who deals with his children only in love and wisdom, be a solace and comfort to all who mourn.
