Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 10 Mar. 1910. Clayton column.

The young couple then moved to Colorado and resided there for some time, but the climate proved unhealthful for Carrie and they were forced to return to Iowa, making Lansing their home, at which place they lived until Carrie was taken sick with lung trouble. Two weeks prior to her death, which occurred Monday morning, Feb. 28, 1910, at 6 a.m., she was moved from Lansing to Clayton and cared for by a loving mother, brothers and sisters.

She leaves to mourn her loss, a living husband, two daughters, Leta, aged five, and Ruth, aged 3, an aged mother, five brothers and five sisters, namely: Frank, of Roundup, Mont. James, of Clayton, John, of Marysville, Calf., Albert, of Meeteetse, Wyo., Edward, of Washington, Mrs. T. S. Kaufman, of Lansing, Mrs. J. B. Kaufman, of Intervale, Wis., Mrs. S. J. Randall, of Denver, Col., Mrs. M. H. Duckett, of Iowa, and Mrs. Alice Stoeffler, of Clayton.

Those present at the time of her death were Alfred, of Wyoming, Edward, of Washington, and Mrs. S. J. Randall, of Denver, Col. One sister, Mrs. C. J. Peterson, preceded her to the home beyond, dying Jan. 19th, 1894.

Farewell beloved, thy mortal body is resting in the unseen palace of the dead, but thou thyself art resting in the arms of that directing power that folds all life to its unseen breast.
