Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 27 Jan. 1910. From the LeMars Sentinel, undated.

Henry Patrick, an old resident of Plymouth county, died at his home in Preston township on Saturday afternoon about four o'clock, death resulting from pneumonia and infirmities of age, the decedent being past eighty years of age.

Mr. Patrick has been a resident of Preston township for the past seventeen years and was well known, especially among the older settlers. For the past few years he has lived a retired life, having practically withdrawn from the activities of farm life.

He was a native of England, having been born in Sheffield on September 10th, 1829. When he was twenty years of age he came with his parents to America and the family settled on a farm in Dubuque county in 1849. When a young man he was engaged in mining and subsequently in farming, which pursuit he followed all his life and by economy, hard work and perseverance he accumulated a fair competency and died possessed of a considerable estate.

He was married to Miss Louise Millahan on May 27, 1858, who preceded him to the beyond a number of years ago. They engaged in farming in Clayton county and in 1873 came to Plymouth county. To this union seven children were born, who are all living. They are: Mrs. Anna Hunt, of Clayton county; Mrs. Caroline Cox, of Dubuque county; Mrs. Janette Hauschen, of Palo Alto county; Mrs. Laura Beddow, of Charles Mix county, S.D.; Emma, Stephen and Joseph, who reside at home. The deceased also leaves an aged brother residing at Hawarden and a sister at Guttenberg, Iowa.

Mr. Patrick was an upright citizen, who enjoyed the respect of the community in which he had lived so long and was a loving husband and father and a good neighbor.

The remains were shipped to Clayton county for interment at the family burial ground at Elkport. - LeMars Sentinel.
