Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Dec. 1914. Elkport and Vicinity column.

------------
Same paper, date and column as above. Our community was greatly shocked Thursday morning by the death of Mrs. John Ries, an aged resident of our city, her death being due to a stroke of paralysis. She had been sick but a short time when the end came. She and her husband moved here from Chicago several years ago and decided to make this their home. Mrs. Ries had numerous friends and was a kind hearted woman, always ready to lend a helping hand. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Roeder and her sorrowing husband, besides other relatives and friends, with whom we deeply sympathize. She was laid to rest in the Mt. Harmony cemetery, Rev. W. Paulson officiating.
