Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Dec. 1914. Local News columns.

Carmon Pearl Brown, daughter of Bruce and Malinda Brown, was born June 23rd, 1906, and died Dec. 15th, 1914, aged eight years, five months and twenty-two days.

Carmon was a faithful member of the United Brethern Sunday School, which she attended regularly as long as her health would permit. She was of a very pleasant disposition and spread sunshine wherever she went. Carmon will be sadly missed by her friends and Schoolmates.

She leaves to mourn her early death her parents; two brothers, Clifford and Elmer; one sister, Vera; also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W________, besides a host of relatives and friends.

(Note: The W______ surname appears to be at least 5-6 letters long. But after the W letter it was totally blurred.)

Carmen's death certificate (familysearch.org) gives her mother as Melinda Walters, cause of death as Diabetes Mellatus and place of burial as Brown cemetery.
