OSTERDOCK MAN KILLED BY MAD BULL.
funeral Services Held In Elkport, Monday - Remains Brought Here For Burial.Last Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Michael Finnegan met death in a most terrible way. His two sons, Henry and Ray, were in Dubuque and it was necessary that Mr. Finnegan go out early in the evening to bring in the cows for milking. He had been gone for some time, when his wife became alarmed at the length of his stay and went after him. She found him lying by the side of the fence lifeless, with his head and body crushed. The bull was afterwards found with blood on his nose and it was thus supposed that Mr. Finnegan was crushed to death by the angry beast.
----------------.Michael Finnegan was 68 years old, born in Dublin, Ireland, and was the youngest of twelve children. He came to America when a young boy and wet to school in Boston, where he received a good education. In the early 50's he came to Iowa and settled in Clayton County, where he has since made his home.
At the age of thirty-four he was married to Miss Ida Woods. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Realto Bearns, of Elkport; Henry and Ray, who reside at home, and one boy who died at the age of seven years. His brother, Joseph Finnegan, who resides near Elkader, is the only member of his father's family who survive him.
For the past fifteen years they have made their home near Osterdock, where they have a fine and improved farm.
Funeral services were held at Elkport last Monday by Father Minogue, after which the remains were brought to this place and laid to rest in the St. Joseph cemetery.
