Meenan, Herman 1844 - 1914

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur. 22 Oct. 1914.

Friday afternoon, Oct. 16th, the last remains of Henry Meenan, an old settler of Clayton County, were laid to rest in the family cemetery near Motor. Rev. Franke conducted the services at the home of John Meenan, only brother of the departed.

Deceased was born in O__friesland, Hanover, Jan. 17th, 1844. When a boy fourteen years old he came with his parents to this country and settled in Clayton county. This has been his home until ten years ago, when he decided to try his luck in the west. But he did not leave the state and located in Lyon County, where he passed away, after a short illness on the date mentioned above, at the age of seventy years, eight months and twenty three days. His remains were brought here for burial. His brother John and family are the only relatives he leaves. May he rest in peace.
