Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 23 Jul. 1914. Strawberry Point column.
Anna Pauline Streicher was born Nov. 14, 1900, in Smithfield township, Fayette County, Iowa. As a child of Lutheran parents she was baptized shortly after in Arlington, Iowa, by Rev. Fuehr, of St. Sebald, Iowa. She was the first child born to Mr. and Mrs. Fed Streicher. Her sickness was first noticed on July 5th, after which a physician was called. But for a short time it was impossible to determine the cause until on Tuesday morning it was found necessary to operate for appendicitis and immediately she was hurried to Finley Hospital at Dubuque, where the operation was performed with every hope for her recovery and not until Wednesday noon did she seem to be in imminent danger. From this time on things changed for the worse and every medical aid had been given her, the end came at 12:30 Thursday afternoon. She was loved by all with whom she had contact and having recently completed her common school education she had a most promising future before her. Those who mourn her loss are her father, mother, three brothers and three sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. Her age is 13 years, 7 months and 24 days. The funeral services occurred at the home Sunday, conducted by Rev. Rembold, of Arlington, and the remains were laid to rest in our cemetery.
