Burg, William 1827 - 1914

BURG, STEEN, KOTTMAN, ALITZ

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 16 Jul. 1914.

William Burg was born in Bitzenburg, Germany, April 28th, 1827, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Martin Steen, at Hopkinton, Iowa, on July 11th, 1914, aged past 87 years. He came to the United States many years ago and resided at Clayton Center.

In the year 1858 he was united in marriage with Katherine Kottman and to them were born four children, two boys and two girls. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Steen, mentioned above, and Mrs. Fred Alitz, of Elkader; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many friends, who mourn his departure, yet hope it is well with him in eternity.

Funeral services were held yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alitz, conducted by Rev. Franke, also at Clayton Center, where his remains were laid to rest beside those of his loved ones gone before. Peace to his soul is the devout wish of all.
